I have a Flir E4. It is nothing fancy but it does give good enough images to know how the hives are doing in the winter. Also for finding clusters in a wall.

    Infra-Red Hive Imaging

Do IR Cameras have a place in your bee managing toolkit? Bee Culture ran a series of articles by Jerry Bromenshenk and others about Infra-red colonies for imaging hives. Want to know if a colony is alive, especially in the winter or in hives stored in a wintering shed? Want to know the size and location of the clustered colony? Want to know if the colony has a laying queen? An infrared camera may be for you.
