ApisProtect is a beehive monitoring technology provider. This beekeeping technology uses beehive sensors to monitor the health of millions of honey bees.

I think this could be of interest. A spin off from the University of Cork, Ireland. They also claim to use sound, amongst other sensors. The device appears to be mounted in the roof.
