  • Best way to record hives with robbing screens?

My local weather has been hot and dry and as a result I have had to put Bee Smart plastic robbing screens on all my hives. I am wondering if I can get a decent recording through the perforated face of the plastic robbing screen? I also have screened bottoms, perhaps it would be better to record from under the hive?

Couldn’t you remove the robbing screen for 60 seconds?

Sure but it would mean an extra hour or more of work to remove all the robbing screens and then re-install them. That's why I asked how to get the recordings without removing them.

Aren’t they held in place with push 4 pins? And how many hives are you talking about that it would take an hour?

I have about 25 right now. No push pins now. They’re hard to remove and tend to fall apart. I’m using staples for most of them.

i figure roughly 5 minutes each to remove the screen take the recording and re-install the screen.

I think I am not being clear with my question though. Am I getting decent/usable recordings with the screens on or should I stop taking the recordings while I have the screens installed?
